    USES :

    Erythromycin is used as an antibiotic for various bacterial skin infections, caused due to minor cuts, scrapes or burns.

    How does the drug work?

    Erythromycin belongs to the class of macrolide antibiotics. Erythromycin disturbs the production of bacterial proteins which are essential for their survival. Thus, kills the bacteria that cause skin infections.

    What are the common side effect?

    The most common side effects of erythromycin include sensitization or allergic reactions which may cause skin redness, swelling or rash, irritation, burning, hearing difficulty, and decreased urination.

    • Do not take Althrocin drug with food. Maintain a time gap of at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the food.

    • Avoid Althrocin medication if allergic to erythromycin or other drugs related to same class such as azithromycin, roxithromycin or clarithromycin.

    • Avoid simultaneous usage of Althrocin with drugs containing magnesium or aluminium with erythromycin. Maintain a time gap of at least 2 hours before and after taking other drugs.

    • In case of pregnancy and breast feeding consult the doctor before taking Althrocin drug.
