    Uses:

    Cetrizine is a H1 receptor blocker which is most commonly used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis. It is also used to treat chronic idiopathic urticarial and perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children of 6 years of age and older.

    How does the drug work ?

    Cetrizine is a H1 receptor blocker which is most commonly used to alleviate symptoms of allergy. H1 receptors are G-protein coupled receptors that are located on the T cells, B- cells, monocytes and lymphocytes. Stimulation of H1 receptors causes inflammatory effects, vasodilation, headache, bronchoconstriction, hypotension and tachycardia. Cetirizine blocks the H1 receptors which are commonly activated by histamine- inflammatory mediator and potent vasodilator. Therefore, cetrizine is used to relieve the allergic symptoms such as inflammation, runny nose, sneezing, and itching in the patient

    What are the common side effects ?

    The most commonly reported side effects of cetrizine are Drowsiness, dry mouth, nose or throat irritation, sore throat, tiredness, weakness, fever or cough, swelling in the upper and lower limbs, and nosebleed

    Important Information for Safe Use:

    • Antized can be taken with or without food. However, it is best to take the medication after food to prevent abdominal pain.

    • Avoid driving after taking the Antized medication, as it causes drowsiness or dizziness.

    • Long-term use of Antized may cause pancreatitis and hepatitis. Therefore, patients should undergo continuous monitoring of pancreatic and functioning test

    • Patients taking rifampicin, Phenobarbital, phenytoin or prednisone should avoid Anglocet, as it may increase the risk of side effects of Antized.

    • Antized is prescribed at different doses for children of 2 to 15 years old only for the treatment of chronic asthma and for the prophylaxis of exercise-induced asthma.

    • Antized medicine is not prescribed for the treatment of asthma to children younger than 12 months. It is not prescribed for the treatment allergic rhinitis in the children younger than 2 years old.

    • Antized is prescribed with caution in pregnant and lactating women and the patients are regularly monitored.
