    Uses:

    Prasugrel is the active ingredient of the drug Aplet. It is used to prevent the clot formation which occurs in certain heart conditions or blood vessel problems. Prasugrel is given to prevent blood clots in patients with coronary heart disease, unstable angina (chest pain), and heart attack.

    How does the drug work ?

    Prasugrel is an anti-platelet drug which inhibits the platelet receptors. Platelets are small cells present in the blood which prevent excess blood loss associated with cuts or wounds by forming aggregates. Prasugrel prevents this platelet aggregation and clot formation.

    What are the common side effects ?

    The common prasugrel side effects are nose bleeding and easy bruising or bleeding from minor injuries.

    Important Information for Safe Use:

    • Do not take Aplet if an allergic reaction has been experienced with the use of prasugrel in the past.

    • Avoid Aplet in case of conditions involving bleeding are present such as bleeding from the stomach or intestine, severe liver disease and a history of stroke or ischemic attack.

    • Inform a doctor in case of a recent serious injury or surgery, plan for surgery, body weight less than 60 Kg, moderate liver disease, and kidney disease. This is because the doctor may adjust the dose due to a higher risk of bleeding in such individuals.
