    Uses :

    Budesonide is used to treat asthma. It is also used to prevent and treat various allergies of the nose, throat or the lungs.

    Mode of drug action

    Budesonide is classified under a group of medicines known as corticosteroids. Budesonide controls the rate of protein synthesis. At the cellular level the drug reverses the capillary permeability and lysosomal stabilization thereby prevents and controls the inflammation.

    What are the common side effects?

    Budesonide side effects include anxiety, nervousness, restlessness, sleeping disorder, depression, belching, blemish, bruise, cataract, glaucoma, effected adrenal gland, excitement, growth retardation, aphonia, cough, hoarseness of voice, indigestion, heartburn, irritation, sore throat, and stomach pain.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Maintain an interval of at least 8 hours between the successive doses of Bupron XL tablet.

    • Use Bupron XL tablet with caution in elder patients.

    • Consult a doctor before using Bupron XL in case of renal or hepatic impairment.

    • Blood pressure should be monitored regularly while taking Bupron XL.

    • Avoid driving or operating heavy machines as Bupron XL tablet causes dizziness and also effects the concentration.

    • Consult a doctor before using this tablet in case of pregnancy or breast feeding.

    What else should I know?

    1. Can I take budesonide with carbamazepine? No. budesonide makes carbamazepine less effective. Therefore avoid concomitant use of both the drugs. Talk to the doctor for further advice.

    2. Do I gain weight with the use of budesonide? Yes, weight gain is common with the use of budesonide. You may also experience facial hair growth, and hair loss. Consult your doctor in case of such symptoms.

    3. Is Budesonide used for relief of acute bronchospasm? No. Budesonide is not indicated for acute bronchospasm.

    4. Is budesonide used in infants? Yes, budesonide is used in the children and infants for the treatment of acute larnyngotracheobronchitis.

    5. Can I drive after taking budesonide dose? No. budesonide may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Therefore, avoid the activities that require alertness.
