    Uses :

    Carvedilol is used to lower blood pressure levels and prevent heart failure. Carvedilol is also used to treat heart functioning problems such as irregular pumping of blood, after the heart attack. Additionally, carvedilol is used to treat signs and symptoms of angina.

    Mode of drug action


    Carvedilol is a beta-blocker. Carvedilol prevents the heart failure by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors. Thus reduces the heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand of heart. Carvedilol also decreases the systemic vascular resistance, which relaxes the blood vessels of the heart and allows the blood to flow easily.

    What are the common side effects?

    The common carvedilol side effects include angina pectoris, hypotension, nausea, visual disturbance, hypotension, drowsiness or dizziness, diarrhea, impotence, dry eyes, fatigue, lack of energy or weakness

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Carloc may cause dizziness or tiredness when taken for the first time, so take the drug during bed time. Avoid performing heavy tasks such as driving or working with machines.

    • Do not discontinue Carloc drug suddenly, as it may cause abnormal heart rhythms or worsen the carvedilol side effects. So gradual tapering of the dose is required.

    • Do not take Carloc in the case of asthma, bronchitis or severe lung diseases.

    • Carloc should be prolonged even after maintaining the constant blood pressure levels. The medication should be continued throughout the life.

    • Do not take Carloc tablet while using other beta blockers or calcium channel blockers, as they may interact with Carloc tablet and decrease the efficacy of the drug.

    What else should I know?

    1. I am alcoholic. How can I use carvedilol? Alcoholic should use the drug with caution. Avoid alcohol within two hours before or after taking the carvedilol drug.

    2. Can use carvedilol during breastfeeding? No, carvedilol tablet may enter into breast milk and it can harm the baby.

    3. Can I use carvedilol tablet along with diuretics No, carvedilol drug may interact with diuretics and worsen the side effects of Cardivas.

    4. I am suffering from malaria. Can I use carvedilol? No, anti-malarial drugs such as mefloquine may cause alterations in the heart rhythms during concomitant use.

    5. I am diabetic. Can I take carvedilol? Consult with the doctor before using the medication and know the risks and benefits associated with the carvedilol drug.
