    Uses :

    Trimetazidine is prescribed for the long-term treatment of angina pectoris. Additionally, it is used to control and prevent severe chest pain. Trimetazidine is also used for ear problems (ringing in the ears).

    Mode of drug action


    Trimetazidine is an anti-anginal metabolic agent. It inhibits 3-ketoacyl coAthiolase activity and reduces the oxidation of fatty acids and stimulates glucose oxidation. Stimulation of glucose oxidation leads to coupling of glycolysis and decrease in proton production. This activity will alter the overload of sodium and calcium levels in heart and decrease the cardiac efficiency during reperfusion.

    What are the common side effects?

    The common side effects reported with trimetazidine are hypotension, pale or red skin, palpitations, dizziness, headache, inflammation, and abnormal blood count.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • It is not safe to drive after taking Cravidon OD medicine as it causes drowsiness and dizziness.

    • Discontinue Cravidon OD tablets if there is no any treatment response after 3 months and inform the doctor immediately.

    • Elderly patients should take tablet Cravidon OD with caution.
