    Uses :

    Cefixime is used to treat certain infection caused by bacteria such as bronchitis, gonorrhea and infections of ears, throat, tonsils, and urinary tract. Cefixime is not used for treating viral infections like flu and the common cold.

    Mode of drug action


    Cefixime acts by acting inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to the specific penicillin-binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell wall. This, in turn, causes the inhibition of third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis.

    What are the common side effects?

    The common side effects of Cefixime are diarrhea, abdominal pain, agitation, chest pain, chills, coma, infusion, cough, dark urine, blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, fever, irritability, joint or muscle pain, and lethargy.
