    Cilnidipine Cilnidipine medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (essential hypertension). It is also used in the prevention of heart attack associated with hypertension. Telmisartan Telmisartan is used to treat hypertension. It helps to prevent and control heart attack and stroke. This drug is also used to treat the signs and symptoms associated with kidney diseases.

    Mode of drug action


    Cilnidipine Cilnidipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. It acts by blocking the activity of calcium channels present in the blood vessels and heart muscles, thereby, decreasing the load on the heart. It also increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Telmisartan Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker that interferes with the binding activity of angiotensin II to its receptor. This causes relaxation of the muscles and allows easy flow of blood in the vessels, thus, lowering the blood pressure levels.

    What are the common side effects?

    Cilnidipine The common side effects include palpitations, frequent urge to urinate, abnormal liver function tests, eye pain, blindness, depression, headache, dizziness, fever, flushing, increase in the growth of gums, decreased blood pressure, impotence, lethargy, rash, muscle pain, and tremor. Telmisartan The common side effects of telmisartan are abdominal bloating, hypotension, itching, high potassium levels, fast heartbeat, change in vision, and large hives.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Do not take Cilacar-T tablet if an allergic reaction has been experienced in the past with any of its ingredients.

    • Patients with angina are advised not to stop the drug suddenly.

    • Discontinue the medicine Cilacar-T in patients who experience ischemic pain following its administration.

    • Tab Cilacar-T may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Breastfeeding females should take the medicine under the supervision of a physician.

    • Inform the doctor about the current list of medications, allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions before taking the Cilacar-T tablet.

    • Avoid alcohol while using this medicine as it increases the risk of the associated Cilacar-T side effects.

    • Avoid taking the drug during bedtime, because of the chances of Cilacar-T side effects such as frequent urination.

    • Drink adequate amount of water or liquids to avoid dehydration, a side effect caused by Cilacar-T. Regular monitoring of blood levels and sugar levels is recommended.

    1. Is it safe to drive and operate heavy machinery while on cilnidipine medication? If you experience drowsiness, dizziness, hypotension or headache as side-effects with cilnidipine medicine, then it maybe not be safe for you to drive a vehicle or operate heavy machinery.

    2. Is cilnidipine US FDA approved? No. It is not approved by FDA for the treatment of hypertension.

    3. Can I stop the tablet cilnidipine immediately or do I have to slowly wean off consumption? Some medicines cannot be stopped immediately because of rebound effects. Cilnidipine should not be stopped immediately especially in the patients with angina.

    4. Is cilnidipine safe during breast-feeding? There are no evidence to prove that cilnidipine passes through breast milk. However, consult your doctor before taking the drug.

    1. I am on ramipril. Can I use telmisartan? No, telmisartan is not recommended for concomitant use with ramipril.

    2. Is telmisartan safe with diuretics? No, telmisartan should not be taken while using diuretics due to the risk of increase in the frequency of urination.

    3. How long should I use telmisartan? Telmisartan should be continued even after you feel well. Do not miss the dose. Take a doctor’s advice.

    4. I am suffering from angioedema while using telmisartan. Can I stop using the drug? Angioedema is a serious side effect of telmisartan. Therefore, you must stop taking telmisartan drug and immediately consult a doctor.

    5. Can I perform vigorous exercises while taking telmisartan? No, telmisartan causes tiredness and dizziness. Follow the instructions of the health care professionals carefully while doing the workouts.
