    Uses :

    Clindamycin Clindamycin is used as an antibiotic for various bacterial skin infections. Clotrimazole Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug which acts against several types of fungi such as yeasts (e.g. Candida), moulds, dermatophytes (e.g. tenia), etc. Clotrimazole uses include the treatment of infections such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, fungal nappy rash and fungal sweat rash. Clotrimazole uses also include relief of skin irritation of the vulva or the tip of the penis associated with certain fungal infections. Cotrimoxazole is considered as the first choice of drug for fungal growth prevention on skin. Tinidazole Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial drug. It is indicated in amoebiasis and amoebic liver abscess. It is used to treat giardiasis (infection to small intestine) and some bacterial infections like bacterial vaginosis (inflammation of vagina). It is also used in the treatment of sexually transmitted infections such as trichomoniasis.

    Mode of drug action


    Clindamycin Clindamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that disturbs the production of certain bacterial proteins which are essential for their survival. As this drug kills the bacteria it is used in the treatment of skin problems due to bacterial infections. Clotrimazole Clotrimazole acts by inhibiting the ergosterol synthesis in the fungal cell membrane leading to a structural impairment of the cell membrane and cell death. Tinidazole Tinidazole belongs to nitroimidazole antibiotics. Tinidazole acts against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. It penetrates into the bacterial or protozoa cell and damages the DNA, which kills the cells and reduces the infection.

    What are the common side effects?

    Clindamycin The most common side effects of Clindamycin include sensitization or allergic reactions which may cause skin redness, swelling or rash, irritation, burning and hearing difficulty. Clotrimazole The common side effects of clotrimazole drug include rash, edema, irritation, blisters, redness, peeling, burning and itching. The other side effects include allergic reactions such as hives, shortness of breath, hypotension, or fainting, which may occur at high doses. Tinidazole The side effects of tinidazole include bitter and metallic taste of the tongue. The patients may also feel difficulty in breathing and chest pain. The stools may be black or tarry. Burning sensation of stomach, numbness, dizziness is also seen. Swelling of the face, mouth and lips are some of the common side effects experienced by patients taking tinidazole.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Avoid Clingen Forte if the patients experienced any allergic reactions with Clindamycin or any of its ingredients.

    • Consult a doctor before using Clingen Forte medication for children.

    • Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding should consult the doctor before using the medication.

    • Avoid usage of Clingen Forte in large dose continuously on large areas of the body as it may affect the hormonal balance.

    • Patients should not use Clingen Forte for more than 2 weeks, if the infection persists still longer consult to the doctor.

    • Use of Clingen Forte is contraindicated in diabetic patients.

    What else should I know?

    1. What if I overdose? An overdose of Clindamycin may cause drooping eyelids, increased production of liver enzyme, skin redness, numbness, ear damage etc.

    2. I am experiencing ringing in ears while using Clindamycin. Should I stop using it? Yes, neomycin causes ringing in ears (tinnitus) which is one of the symptoms of ear damage. Report it to the doctor immediately.

    3. Can I use Clindamycin for pimples on face? Do not use Clindamycin drug for face unless advised by the physician as it may damage the skin.

    4. Can I use Clindamycin for the treatment of itchy skin rash? Clindamycin is used for treating skin problems but consult your doctor before using the drug.

    5. What should I do if I forget a dose? As soon as you remember, apply the missed dose. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with regular dosing. Avoid applying double dose to make up for a missed dose. Clotrimazole

    1. How should I use the clotrimazole yeast infection? The clotrimazole should be applied 2 to 3 times daily in the form of a thin layer and rubbed gently. A strip of half centimeter long drug can treat an area of the size of the hand. If your feet are infected, you must wash and dry them thoroughly before applying the drug.

    2. Is the dosage schedule different for different age groups with clotrimazole for yeast infection? Dosage schedule with the fungal infection treatment, clotrimazole is similar for the young or the elderly.

    3. For how long should the clotrimazole be used to completely cure the fungal infection? The duration of treatment can range from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 4 weeks depending on the type and severity of the infection.

    2. Is tinidazole used for pediatrics to treat amoebiasis? Tinidazole can be recommended for children above three years of age to treat amoebiasis.

    3. Is tinidazole available as over-the-counter (OTC) drug? Tinidazole is not available as OTC. Doctor’s prescription is needed to dispense the drug.

    4. Can tinidazole used for urinary tract infections? No, tinidazole is not effective for urinary tract infection treatment.

    5. What are the conditions to store tinidazole tablets? Tinidazole tablets must be stored in cool and dry place. Avoid direct sunlight. Keep out of reach for children.
