    Ginkgo Biloba is used to treat symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss problems. It is also used for depression, vertigo, mood disturbances, and hearing disorders. Piracetam is used with other drugs in the treatment of myoclonus, a brain disorder which causes jerky, twitchy and uncontrolled movements of the muscles of the arms and the legs. Vinpocetine is used in the treatment of memory problems in people aged above 50 and below 85 years. It is given for patients with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, and attention deficit-hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Vinpocetine use also helps in complete recovery after an ischemic stroke.

    Mode of drug action


    Ginkgo Biloba is the herbal medicine which is the extract of the same. It helps in recovery of several conditions related to brain such as memory problems, by improving the blood circulation to brain. This makes the brain to function properly. Piracetam belongs to a group of drugs called the GABA analogs. It acts on the brain and protects it from oxygen depletion. Vinpocetine is an extract from the seeds of vinca minor. It is a derivative of vincamine alkaloid. It enhances cerebral blood flow and has neuroprotective effects.

    What are the common side effects?

    Ginkgo Biloba is safe if taken in appropriate doses. Minor side effects are noticed such as headache, dizziness, constipation, forceful heartbeat and allergic reactions. The common side effects of piracetam are stomach discomfort, pain, gas formation, nausea, irritation, headache, sleep disturbance, dizziness, and confusion. The common side effects of Vinpocetine include sleeplessness, headache, low or high blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, blurred vision and chest pain.

    • Do not take Cognix Plus if a previous allergic reaction has been experienced with any of its ingredients.

    • In case of minor kidney problems and bleeding disorders, cautious use of the tab Cognix is necessary. People with kidney disease need a dose adjustment.

    • If any other drugs such as blood-thinning agents, thyroid dugs, etc. are to be taken, while using Cognix plus, inform a doctor. This is to avoid unwanted interactions between the drugs.

    • To be on safe side, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take Cognix plus.

    • Take the exact Cognix plus dosage as prescribed by the doctor. Exceeding the dose can lead to unwanted effects and increase the risk of Cognix plus side effects.
