    USES :

    Pseudoephedrine is used to treat congestion in the nasal passages, i.e. stuffy nose. It also treats congestion in the sinuses, and tubes of the inner ears. Chlorpheniramine is commonly used in the treatment of cold symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, and to treat asthma and hay fever. Dextromethorphan is used for the treatment of dry coughs (cough suppressant).

    How does the drug work?

    Pseudoephedrine works by relaxing the blood vessels in the nasal passages. It also reduces the secretion of mucous in the nose. Chlorpheniramine is classified under antihistamines as it acts by blocking a chemical known as histamine, which is released by the body in response to an allergic reaction. Histamine is responsible for the symptoms of allergic reactions. Dextromethorphan belongs to a class of drugs called antitussives. Dextromethorphan works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that triggers the cough reflexes, therefore it is known as cough suppressant.

    Important Information for use

    • People with bone marrow depression should not use Zepcar CR medicine.

    • Avoid the Zepcar CR drug if an allergic reaction was seen with an earlier use of carbamazepine.

    • Do not take any other antidepressant drugs along with Carbafen tablet. If a MAO-inhibitor drug was used in the past 14 days, then do not take Zepcar CR.

    • Call the doctor immediately in the case of skin rash, unusual weakness, bleeding and fever. This is because of the chances of Carbafen side effects such as life-threatening skin rash.

    • Continue the Zepcar CR medication for the full length prescribed by the doctor.

    • Pregnant women should not start or stop using Zepcar CR unless instructed by the doctor.

    • Don’t get exposed to sunlight due to the risk of sunburn with Zepcar CR.

    • Do not take grapefruit juice while using Zepcar CR.
