    Uses :

    Perindopril is used to treat hypertension. It is also used to treat and control the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients with coronary heart disease.

    Mode of drug action


    The active metabolite of perindopril acts by binding to ACE inhibitors and inhibits proteolysis of angiotensin I and angiotensin II. Decreased levels of angiotensin II lower blood pressure by relaxing the muscles.

    What are the common side effects?

    The most common side effects of perindopril are diarrhea, low blood pressure, swelling of face and eyes, dizziness, dry cough, back pain, running nose, chills, and fever.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Do not use Coversyl drug in pregnancy.

    • Patients allergic to perindopril should not take Coversyl.

    • Avoid using Coversyl tablet in case of kidney failure and angioedema.

    • Avoid using gold containing medications such as auranofin, as it may cause vomiting, flushing during concomitant use with perindopril.

    • Patients taking Coversyl for the first time may feel dizzy or have discomfort. Do not discontinue the drug without consulting the doctor.

    • Perindopril may lower the immunity slightly. Report the doctor if the side effect worsen.

    What else should I know?

    1. I am diagnosed with bone marrow disease. Can I continue taking Coversyl tablet? Coversyl may increase the risk of bone marrow problems. Talk with your doctor before taking the drug.

    2. I am on NSAIDs. Can I take perindopril? No, use of NSAIDs along with perindopril increases the risk of kidney problems.

    3. How long should I take Coversyl? Continue using Coversyl even if you feel well. Do not miss the dose. However, discuss with the doctor for the safe use of the drug.

    4. Can I perform vigorous exercises while taking Coversyl drug? No, Coversyl may cause dehydration if you do vigorous exercises without keeping yourself hydrated.

    5. Can I consume alcohol while taking perindopril? No, alcohol may worsen the side effects of perindopril.
