    Sodium picasulfate is used to relieve constipation. Sodium picasulfate is also used for bowel clearance during the radiological investigation, surgeries, child birth.

    Mode of drug action

    Sodium picasulfate belongs to the group laxatives. It stimulates the muscles of large intestine and rectum to increase the peristalsis movement and bring relief from constipation. It induces bowel movements and loosens the stool by restoring the natural rhythm of the bowel.

    What are the common side effects?

    The common sodium picasulfate side effects are diarrhea, decreased urination, black and bloody stools, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, and feeling sick.

    Special precautions for safe use

    • Patients having an obstruction in the gut should not use sodium picasulfate.

    • Cremalax tablet use is restricted in the individuals who are undergoing surgery related to the abdomen or in the case of severe dehydration.

    • Avoid using Cremalax, while taking corticosteroids, diuretics, antibiotics, as these may affect the efficacy of Cremalax tablet.

    • Patients with sugar intolerance should not use the Cremalax, as Cremalax may contain sugars such as liquid maltitol.

    • Avoid excessive use of Cremalax tablet as it may lead to fluid or electrolyte imbalance in the body.
