    Uses :

    Febuxostat is used in the treatment of high blood uric acid levels commonly termed as hyperuricemia and painful joint condition associated with it (gout).

    Mode of drug action

    Febuxostat is classified under a group of medications known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. Xanthine oxidase is an enzyme which oxidizes both hypoxanthine and xanthine to uric acid. Febuxostat tablets act by inhibiting the enzyme thereby decreasing the blood uric acid levels and preventing gout attacks.

    What are the common side effects?

    The side effects of febuxostat include increased levels of liver enzymes, joint pain, acne-like rash, chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, difficult speech, nausea, weakness, and numbness of extremity.

    3. Is it safe to take colchicine with febuxostat? Yes. Colchicine can be taken safely with febuxostat.

    4. Does consumption of alcohol cause any side effects while taking febuxostat tablets? There is no known interaction between alcohol and febuxostat. However, consult your doctor for safe use of the drug.
