    Uses :

Atorvastatin Atorvastatin uses include regulation of the fat levels in the body when the diet and lifestyle changes are not effective. It lowers the cholesterol levels and is useful for patients with a high risk of heart diseases. Aspirin Aspirin (also called acetyl salicylic acid, ASA) is an analgesic agent, used to relieve moderate to severe pain, such as headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, sore throat, joint pain, dysmenorrhea (pain during periods) and heart attack. It is also used as a blood thinner in heart diseases and stroke. Clopidogrel Clopidogrel is used to prevent blood from clotting. It is used in the prevention of heart attack and stroke. It also relieves chest pain.

    Mode of drug action

Atorvastatin Atorvastatin acts by inhibiting an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase which is involved in the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. It also increases the breakdown of the cholesterol by enhancing its uptake by the liver cells. Acetylsalicylic acid Acetylsalicylic acid blocks the cyclooxygenase enzyme, which decreases the production of two chemicals- prostaglandins and thromboxanes. Low levels of prostaglandin bring about pain relief. Low thromboxane levels results in thinning of blood, therefore, its long-term use helps to prevent heart attack and stroke. Clopidogrel Clopidogrel is an anti-platelet drug. The drug works by preventing platelets (a type of blood cells) from aggregating, thereby preventing the formation of blood clots. Clopidogrel is also known as a blood thinning agent as it keeps the blood thin enough to flow smoothly through the blood vessels.
