    Amorolfine Amorolfine is used to treat fungal infections of the skin such as athlete’s foot. It is also used to treat infections caused by yeasts or mould. Amorolfine is used to treat fungal infections of toe and fingernails (onychomycosis). Phenoxyethanol Phenoxyethanol is used as an antiseptic in surgical and non-surgical disinfectants. It is used as a solvent in dyes, inks, and resins. Additionally, phenoxyethanol is used as a preservative in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and lubricants.

    Mode of drug action


    Amorolfine Amorolfine is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug. It acts by inhibiting the ergosterol synthesis in the fungal cell membrane, leading to a structural impairment of the cell membrane and cell death. Phenoxyethanol Phenoxyethanol is an antiseptic agent. It acts by disrupting the cell wall of the fungus or bacterium, thereby damaging the infected cells.

    What are the common side effects?

    Amorolfine The commonly reported side effects of amorolfine are blisters on the skin, nail disorder, redness of the skin, and discoloration of nails, burning sensation, and allergic reactions on the skin. Phenoxyethanol The most common side effects of phenoxyethanol are skin irritation. Prolonged expose to the drug may cause kidney damages, nervous system failure, liver damage, ingestion, and organ damage.

    • Do not apply nail lacquer or use nail varnish while using Livafin for nail infections.

    • Patients with weak immune systems and diabetes should use Livafin drug with caution.

    • Do not use Livafin medication if the infected area is severely damaged or has poor blood circulation.

    • NSAIDs, vitamins or herbal products may interact with Livafin drug, discuss with the doctor about the safe use of the medication.

    • Do not stop using Livafin drug abruptly, as the infection would come back. Use the full course of treatment.

    • Nursing mothers should not apply Livafin drug near nipples, as it can cause vomiting or diarrhea in the infants.
