    Losartan Medicine losartan is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. It lowers the risk of stroke in some people with heart diseases. Losartan slows down the progression of diabetes to kidney damage associated with high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat hypertension. It is also used in the treatment of fluid retention in congestive heart failure or liver cirrhosis. Hydrochlorothiazide is used as a diuretic to removes excess salts from the body.

    Mode of drug action


    Losartan Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, i.e. it blocks the binding of angiotensin II to its receptor. Thus, angiotensin II cannot produce its actions such as constriction of blood vessels. It prevents the narrowing of blood vessels, thereby, improving the blood flow through them. Hydrochlorothiazide Hydrochlorothiazide acts by eliminating excess salts from the body by inhibiting sodium reuptake in the body. Hydrochlorothiazide blocks sodium-chloride symporter, it reduces osmotic gradient and water reabsorption throughout the body.
