    Saxagliptin is an oral antidiabetic drug. It is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus by controlling the blood sugar levels.

    Mode of drug action


    Saxagliptin increases the production of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP) hormones. These hormones stimulate the production of insulin to reduce blood glucose levels.

    The common side effects of saxagliptin are hypoglycemia, urinary tract infections, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat, fatigue, blurred vision, and dizziness.
