    Haloperidol is an antipsychotic medication that is used to treat behavioral disorders such as psychosis or schizophrenia, mania, and paranoia. It is also used to treat Tourette’s syndrome, a condition that involves unwanted repetitive movements and sounds.

    How does the drug work?

    Haloperidol drug acts on the dopamine receptors and inhibits the release of dopamine neurotransmitter. Doapmine helps in faster transmission of impulse. Thus, inhibition of dopamine release leads to inhibition of nerve impulse decreasing symptoms of psychosis.

    Haloperidol side effects include extrapyramidal side effects such as tremors, headache, agitation, and sleeping problems.
