    Uses :

    Linagliptin is used to treat hyperglycemia of type 2 diabetes. It is used as part of the combined therapy along with diet and exercises to lower high blood sugar levels.

    Mode of drug action


    Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase -4 enzyme inhibitor. It slows the breakdown of insulinotropic hormone (GLP)-1, and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These incretin hormones increase the production of insulin and decrease glucose production in the liver.

    What are the common side effects?

    The common linagliptin side effects are joint pain, headache, swelling of legs, rashes, hives, hoarseness of voice, difficulty in breathing, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
